i woke up at about 0430hrs to the sound of my 5 year old daughter having a heart attack...perhaps it would be more accurately described as a stroke. koukotsu's hard drive is fucking up, badly. fsck fails on some slices; haven't had a chance to identify which ones. i'm so out of practice with my netbsdfu, i don't even know where to start fixing this. i'm a bad, out of practice geek. i know mortgages now, not computers. i need to do a full new install, and try to salvage /home and /etc, and some crap from /usr if possible. i guess order of operations will be 1) new install, 2) try to mount the old drive and copy shit. i should be able to muddle through drive partitioning, kernel config, and setup; then figure out how to mount the other drive. i apologize in advance to vira and gotti for all the noobcake questions i'm sure i will be asking; and thank you in advance for helping me bring my cherished daughter back to life.
i can't explain why this upsets me so much, but it does.

we have a cat and i love her. her name is pixie. she already is starting to sleep with us.
maya is recovering well from her wisdom teeth removal. hopefully the pain and discomfort will not be unbearable once the percocet is gone. she is a trooper and i love her tremendously. <3
today is my birthday but it doesn't feel like it yet. i've not gotten any happy birthday's yet today. it's sort of odd/enjoyable not to have anyone know it's your birthday. like you have a secret. not a very good secret, but a secret all the same. i'll get a five guys burger on the way home and call it a birthday cake. maybe i'll put a candle in it. HAH! yeah, that's some funny shit. then it will feel right, i think. hopefully i get sex tonight if maya is feeling well enough yet.
sarah wished me a happy birthday. it was yesterday but that counts still. thanks sarah.
work is such a fucking piece of shit. i'm entirely unmotivated.
i have to give my parents a ride home from the hospital this afternoon after they get roto rooted.
tomorrow i go to this stupid seminar on how to sell. have to be in crystal city at 8:30...have to leave the house to go to the metro at like 6:30. better be fucking worth that $500.
i'll buy tigar tonight for my birthday present. i don't really want to do a clean install on all the machines. ugh.

These months have given me time to ponder, to shuffle loose my old beliefs and bigotries. Alliance? Horde? Good? Evil? The meanings of these words, once so clear, now blur as my eyes gaze across the boundless sea.
I now know what matters. The bananas are after me.
Perched high in their tree, they eye me with cool malevolence. And the last one I tried to eat nearly gagged me! I could almost hear it scream as I smashed it, half bitten, on the sea rocks.

i don't feel like doing any work. i am, i just don't feel like it. i have had this stupid flash-based-slideshow-with-audio training thing up all day, clicking forward and answering the questions when i have a spare few seconds. it's not so bad, i don't really need to pay attention to it to get the questions right (things like, "is it ok to give the unqualifying borrower a mortgage if they give you a hefty cash payoff?") but the lady's voice fucks up my music and it has no discreet volume control.
tonight is our first official guild meeting (Fishmongers - Cenarion Circle). last night we met and discussed officery things. and fished, of course. good times! i am looking forward to continued battling alongside my old friends (rl and irc), as well as finding new brothers-in-arms with whom to vanquish the Alliance stain.
