i woke up at about 0430hrs to the sound of my 5 year old daughter having a heart attack...perhaps it would be more accurately described as a stroke. koukotsu's hard drive is fucking up, badly. fsck fails on some slices; haven't had a chance to identify which ones. i'm so out of practice with my netbsdfu, i don't even know where to start fixing this. i'm a bad, out of practice geek. i know mortgages now, not computers. i need to do a full new install, and try to salvage /home and /etc, and some crap from /usr if possible. i guess order of operations will be 1) new install, 2) try to mount the old drive and copy shit. i should be able to muddle through drive partitioning, kernel config, and setup; then figure out how to mount the other drive. i apologize in advance to vira and gotti for all the noobcake questions i'm sure i will be asking; and thank you in advance for helping me bring my cherished daughter back to life.
i can't explain why this upsets me so much, but it does.

i don't feel like doing any work. i am, i just don't feel like it. i have had this stupid flash-based-slideshow-with-audio training thing up all day, clicking forward and answering the questions when i have a spare few seconds. it's not so bad, i don't really need to pay attention to it to get the questions right (things like, "is it ok to give the unqualifying borrower a mortgage if they give you a hefty cash payoff?") but the lady's voice fucks up my music and it has no discreet volume control.

tonight is our first official guild meeting (Fishmongers - Cenarion Circle). last night we met and discussed officery things. and fished, of course. good times! i am looking forward to continued battling alongside my old friends (rl and irc), as well as finding new brothers-in-arms with whom to vanquish the Alliance stain.

bah. yesterday, forums.worldofwarcraft.com was blocked by the corporate proxy. today, thottbot.com! fuckers. i picture some guy watching what i personally like to look at, then adding it to the websense blocked list.

great times questing with viracocha yesterday - bigups!

i made a troll rogue and a dwarf paladin before bed last night, both at level 2. horde all the way, but i wanted to check out how the other side lives. cutely and with lots more players is the answer. my dwarf hops around. it's funny.
so, my chars are now (all on cenarion circle):
Selektah - Orc Hunter - lvl 25, skinning/leatherworking
Thorgus - Tauren Shaman - lvl 23, mining/skinning
Metrias - Undead Warrior - 9, no professions yet, likely to be mining/skinning or mining/blacksmithing
Kuth - Troll Rogue - 2, no professions yet, will be mining/engineering
Ultann - Dwarf Paladin - 2, no professions yet, likely to be mining/skinning

Thorgus is the coolest and the one I intend to spend the most time on. I started Selektah first, and he's cool and great for soloing but hunters are lacking in groups. Get rid of the ranged attack dead-zone and I'll change my mind.

I may make more alliance dudes...maybe I should make a chick. I am determined to get my fifteen dollas worth!

in other news, we're not going to see romeo & juliet at the folger theatre (SE DC, near the capitol) tonight as planned because it is SOFA KING COLD OUTSIDE.

I am addicted. I have been a fan of blizzard and the WC series since WC1: Orcs and Humans. WoW is so great. SO GREAT. You should play it! Cenarion Circle is the realm I play on - it's a Role Playing server, which now that I know some guidelines and have some inspiration, I intend to conform to. We'd like to start a #fishmongers guild but we need a few (4?) more people. You must be on the Horde side though; there are way too many Alliance characters as it is anyhow.

Oh, to Kismet; I have been reading a bunch on the forums, and I would like to apologize for not remaining in character and talking as one should on an RP server. I fully intend to RP my char from now on, except when not viable (in heavy combat, etc). I'm not sure if you were annoyed by my non-rp'ness, but I figured I'd put that out there since I just learned the deal.

I am looking forward to battlegrounds! That's some hot PvP action right there.
